NGC 6914

NGC 6914 is a reflection nebula in Cygnus. You can’t shake a stick in Cygnus without finding something to photograph. In this case, NGC 6914 is the small white patch to the right about one third of the way down. There are other reflection nebulae in the frame and lots of dark dust along with red hydrogen emission but only NGC 6914 seems to rate a catalog number, at least in the catalogs the software I use have.

NGC 6914 is about 6,000 light years away and being a reflection nebula, it’s dust that is reflecting light from a nearby star.
