Messier 77 is a barred spiral galaxy in Cetus but it’s a spiral galaxy with a twist, or really, a ring. This galaxy has a ring-like structure around the entire galaxy. The galaxy is around 47 million light years away. The main disk of the galaxy seems to indicate a fairly active place. It does have an active galactic nucleus with a jet but sadly, the jet isn’t visible at optical wavelengths.
