October seems to be the month for ghostly nebula. This time it’s a dust blob in the vague shape of a ghost with a little mini ghost up above. It’s shining in reflected light and there is not all that much there. But, what is there evokes a sense of motion and the dimness draws in the eye to study just what is going on.
This is 12 hours of LRGB data and the smoke in California was quite harsh on this. I ended up losing 6/7 of the blue data we captured and the other color filters weren’t much better. The luminance filter lost over half of the collected data. We would have continued but data acquisition was running into the waxing moon so we opted to stop for now.
